Company Selling Call Blockers Fined £190,000 for Nuisance Calls

A company that sells call-blocking devices has been issued with a monetary penalty by the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) for making unsolicited marketing calls.

The ICO found that, between 27 May 2024 and 10 February 2025, the company had made 758,053 unsolicited calls for direct marketing purposes to people whose numbers were registered with the Telephone Preference Service (TPS). The company's activities resulted in 20 complaints being made to the TPS and the ICO. There was no evidence that the recipients of the calls had notified the company that they did not object to receiving such calls.

Throughout the ICO's investigation, the company had repeatedly ignored requests for information and had continued making unsolicited calls, leading to further complaints.

The company was found to have contravened Regulations 21 and 24 of the Privacy and Electronic Communications (EC Directive) Regulations 2003, and was issued with a monetary penalty of £190,000. It was also served with an enforcement notice ordering it to stop making unlawful marketing calls and to comply with caller identification requirements.
